EDSA Visiting Program
Sofia - Bucharest
5 - 11 November 2007

In the period 5th-11th of November 2007 took place the student exchange program between Sofia, Bulgaria and Bucharest, Romania for the students attending Dental Medicine, European Visiting Program developed in EDSA.
Full of enthusiasm on 4th of November, more exactly Sunday afternoon, a big big assembly (meeting), the 6 musketeers: Raluca, Irina, Georgi, Adriana, Diana and do not forget about Alex (how could we) were going to the unknown land called Sofia. The train was living... getting close to the customs house everyone had the cell phone in their hand (as if we were living for a month... this Latinos lovers :) )
We arrived in wonder land where our colleagues from Sofia were expecting us with half-asleep faces (because the train arrived at 6 o’clock in the morning...ups). After a fluffy sleep, in the evening we went out to meet with the others at bowling... big competition... the bowling balls were flying more in right and left... but isn’t true that: important is to participate?!! And after that, party in the Bulgarian student campus!!! Everybody had fun impressed from the fact that all the clubs were crowded!

Full day on Tuesday: the surgery class, the meet with the Dean, the walk on Vitosha street – expensive shops and in the evening we all went out to have some fun especially because it was the Irina’s last day in Sofia, next day in the morning she was going to leave. We dance we sang we made pictures... I think that it was the best going out mainly due to the fact that in the club was a live band!!!
We were nice impressed on Wednesday when we attended a prosthetics class and we took notice of the fact that all the prosthetic work was done only by students without any technician help, they also had a special room for this activity! The city tour, with the visit of a museum with wax characters and the lovers bridge, where also was an exposition with satellite pictures, tired us enough, so we just gave a look in to salute our Bulgarian mates who were having a party in a club not far from our accommodation!
On Thursday we woke up to arrive at the surgery clinic where we were announced that we will see interesting things...indeed: zigomatic (jugal) bone cancer, nasal bone fracture, odontectomie(the third molar=wisdom teeth included)... After that we were in need of some fresh air so with no hurry we arrived in the city center where we visited the Alexander Nevschi church (one of the biggest church in the Easter Europe), the Russian church, the Parliament, the National Theatre and the coincidence made that while we were looking for an advice we bump into a Romanian girl from Sibiu (what a small world!!!)

At the Operative Dentistry class witch is together with the Endodontics one we met a doctor that beyond the fact that she knew very well her job she also knew perfectly English. Being the last night we party till late in a club from the city center and as usual the Bulgarian left last(how much energy!!!)
On the last day spent in the Bulgarian capital we had a great surprise... in the morning when we woke up we couldn’t believe.. lots of gigantic flake of snow were flying in the air and as we could see it was snowing for a time because they made a blanket upon the earth! Our first snow and we were in Bulgaria!!!(I forgot to mention that Sofia is near the Vitosha mountain).Sunday morning we left...destination-home!!!

And now some opinions:
The exchange program with the Dental school of Sofia represented for me a welcome and useful experience. Although the learning system (medicine school) of Bulgarians doesn’t vary fundamentally from ours, I had the chance to appreciate some things that personally, I would like to see in Bucharest too. Our Bulgarian mates were hospitable and the fun was found every night. The weather although cold and rainy, didn’t stop us to visit the city center ~on foot~.
Hopping that our Bulgarian colleagues had a great time in Romania too I give the degree ~dobre~ to our visit at Sofia.
Greeting for everyone!

Dumitru Georgiana Alina, 5th year

The exchange in Bulgaria, like every new experience, had his good and bad points. From one week is a lot to tell but when you come back home the only thing that you remember is the good times. We came across a different way of learning and organizing , we met people and made friends we also met the Dean ,we attended some clinical lessons, we visited Sofia ant the fun couldn’t miss in a world the Retro party-that you can’t forget. Our Bulgarian mates from dental school are in some regards as us, they tried to have a great time only that at the organization field they need some experience.
My last impression was ~dobre~.

Raluca Dobre, 5th year

I think that the EVP was a success :we saw interesting things, we visited other dental school, we changed opinions with our Bulgarian colleagues! Go go go next year too!!!
